How to Import Reviews in SureCart

This document explains how to import product reviews into SureCart using a CSV file.

Use this process when review data has been exported from another eCommerce plugin, review platform, or SaaS tool and needs to be added to SureCart.

Requirements

Before importing reviews, make sure the following are available:

  • Access to the SureCart App
  • WordPress admin access
  • SureCart installed and activated
  • Products already created in SureCart
  • Review data exported from the source platform
  • A spreadsheet app or CSV editor

Where Reviews Are Imported

Reviews are imported from the SureCart App.

Navigation path:

SureCart App → Settings → Imports → New Import → Reviews

Import Reviews Into SureCart

Step 1: Open the Reviews Import Screen

  1. Log in to the SureCart App.
  2. Go to Settings → Imports.
  3. Click New Import.
  4. Select Reviews.

The Reviews Import window will open.

Step 2: Download the Template CSV File

  1. In the Reviews Import window, click the template CSV file link.
  2. Save the template file to your computer.

The template includes the column names that SureCart accepts during review import.

Do not rename, remove, or change the column headers unless the import format specifically supports those changes. The uploaded file must include the header row, and the column names must match the template.

Step 3: Add Review Data to the CSV File

  1. Open the downloaded CSV template in a spreadsheet app or CSV editor.
  2. Add the review data to the template.
  3. Use one row for each review.

The template may include the following fields:

ColumnDescription
Customer Email*The email address of the customer who submitted the review.
Created AtThe date and time when the review was created.
Product Id*The SureCart product ID for the product this review belongs to.
Title*The title or headline of the review.
BodyThe main review content.
Stars*The review rating. For example: 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.
StatusThe review status, such as published.

Fields marked with an asterisk * are required.

For example, the required fields in the template include:

  • Customer Email*
  • Product Id*
  • Title*
  • Stars*

If required fields are missing, the review may not import correctly.

Step 4: Add the Correct Product ID

Each imported review must be connected to an existing SureCart product.

Add the correct product ID in the Product Id* column for each review. This tells SureCart which product the review belongs to.

Before importing, confirm that:

  • The product already exists in SureCart.
  • The product ID is correct.
  • The product ID is added to the correct row in the CSV file.

If the product ID is missing or incorrect, SureCart may not attach the review to the correct product.

Step 5: Save the File as CSV

After adding the review data, save or export the file in .csv format.

Do not upload files in spreadsheet formats such as .xlsx, .numbers, or other non-CSV formats.

Before saving, check that:

  • The first row still contains the original template column names.
  • Each review is added on its own row.
  • Required fields are filled in.
  • Star ratings use valid numbers.
  • Product IDs are correct.
  • There are no empty rows in the middle of the file.
  • The file is saved in .csv format.

Step 6: Upload the Completed CSV File

  1. Return to the Reviews Import window in the SureCart App.
  2. Upload the completed CSV file by dragging it into the upload area, or click the upload box and select the file from your computer.
  3. Click Import.

SureCart will begin processing the CSV file.

Step 7: Check the Import Status

After the import starts, SureCart returns to the Imports page.

Review the import status from this page. The import may show one of the following statuses:

StatusMeaning
ProcessingSureCart is importing the reviews.
CompletedThe import has finished.
FailedThe import could not be completed.

The import row count can also be used to confirm how many rows were processed.

For example, 3 / 3 means 3 rows were processed out of 3 rows.

Step 8: Review the Imported Reviews

After the import is completed, review the imported reviews in WordPress.

Navigation path:

WordPress Dashboard → SureCart → Products → Reviews

Check that:

  • The review is connected to the correct product.
  • The customer email is correct.
  • The star rating is correct.
  • The review title and body are correct.
  • The review status is correct.

If a review is set to published and product reviews are enabled, it can appear on the product page depending on the store’s review settings and product page layout.

Expected Outcome

After completing the import:

  • Reviews are added to SureCart.
  • Each review is connected to the correct product.
  • The import status shows whether the CSV file was processed successfully.
  • Published reviews can appear on product pages when reviews are enabled and the product page layout supports review display.

Notes and Limitations

  • Always use the SureCart review import template before importing reviews.
  • The CSV file must include the header row.
  • Column names must match the template file.
  • Products should already exist in SureCart before importing reviews.
  • Each review must include the correct Product Id* value.
  • Required fields must not be empty.
  • The file must be uploaded in .csv format.
  • It’s recommended to test the import with a small CSV file before importing a large number of reviews.
