How to Create a Donation Form in SureCart
Creating a donation form using SureCart is straightforward and offers significant customization options. SureCart’s donation system allows for both one-time and recurring donations. Users can choose to donate continuously or distribute their contribution over a specified period, a unique feature not widely available.
The form’s design is highly adaptable; you can modify colors and rearrange elements to suit your site’s design..
This tutorial will guide you through using these features to craft a donation form tailored to your site’s needs.
For information on establishing donation or pay-what-you-want pricing structures, please consult the  “How to Set Up Donation/Pay-What-You-Want in SureCart.“
Why Recurring Donations Matter
Providing the option for regular donations is a huge advantage. When an individual commits to recurring contributions, it signifies their long-term support and allows for better planning. It’s akin to having a reliable ally who consistently supports your cause each month.
The Impact of Recurring Support
When people can donate regularly, it makes things easier for them. They don’t have to keep coming back to donate every time. This makes it more likely they’ll stick around and keep supporting you. Plus, it’s a great way for you to reach your big goals because you know you’ve got ongoing help. Having both these options, a donation form and the choice for recurring support, can make a huge difference in keeping your projects or goals rolling forward.
Who Can Benefit from Donation Forms?
A variety of groups rely on donation forms for support. Charities and organizations aiding children utilize these forms to secure necessary funding. Political movements and advocates also employ these forms to finance their initiatives.
However, donations can be beneficial for nearly everyone. Take a blogger, for example. They might request donations to support their content creation, using methods like a “tip jar” or a “buy me a coffee” option.
Let’s see the steps to setup donation forms in SureCart:
Creating a Donation Form
After you finish creating the product, head to the Forms section of SureCart. Let’s create a new form by following these instructions:
- To create the form straight from a page or post, create a new page or post.
- Insert the Checkout Form block into it.
- Type your form name, in our example “Donation form” then click on the “Next” button to proceed.
- Select the Donation form and click on the “Next” button to choose to continue.
- Select the Pay What You Want product where you’d like to create the donation form.
Editing Labels
- Click on the Amounts block to begin editing. You have the option to change the Label if desired.
- You also have the option to choose the number of columns to better suit your needs.
- You can click on any amount to modify both the text and the specific amount. For example, we changed “$2” to “Donate a milk,” illustrating what the donation could provide in this scenario.
- To alter the amount, you can do so within the right-side panel under the Amount field of the Product Donation Amount block.
Adding a New Custom Price Amount
- Adding a new price is straightforward: simply click the “Add block” button.
- Click on “Product Donation Amount.”
- Click on the left arrow to move the Product Donation Amount block to the left
- As you’re aware, enter the label for the donation and set the desired amount.
Making Changes to the Prices Selector
- Click on the Prices block to make edits.
- In Settings, you can adjust the title, and the number of columns, and modify the styling within the right column panel.
- Click on one of the donation options to modify the label or the donation type.
- To change the label of the recurring option, click on the Recurring block. You can directly type in the option there. Alternatively, you can also edit it in the Label section located in the right column.
Changing Form Style
- To adjust the style of the Amounts block, click on the top part of the block, such as the title or any available free area, and then select “Styles.”
- To select a different background, click on “Background” within the color section, and then pick your desired color.
- Let’s switch the form mode to “Test” so that we can conduct a purchase test later on.
- To save the changes, click on the “Publish” button located at the top right corner.
- Click on “Publish” to save your changes.
This is how your users will view it on the front-end.
