How Customers Can Upgrade/Downgrade a Subscription?
Ever get questions from customers on how they can change their subscription plans? It’s actually a pretty straightforward process on their end.
Let’s say you’re selling membership subscriptions through SureCart, offering three subscription plans: Basic, Standard, and Premium. Now, imagine a customer who is currently subscribed to the Premium plan but wants to switch to the Basic plan. They can do this themselves without much hassle or they don’t have to reach out to you for this.
Here’s how it goes down, step-by-step, so you can guide them through it if needed.
- First, your customer needs to log in to their dashboard.
- Once they’re in, they should click on the “Plans” tab and then select the product they’re looking to either upgrade or downgrade.
- Under “Update Plan,” they’ll see options for different plans. They can choose a higher plan to upgrade or a lower one to downgrade.
- After making a choice, they’ll click the “Next” button to proceed.
Customers will see a notification that their subscription will be immediately renewed upon downgrading/upgrading if subscriptions are set up to renew immediately.
If you set up the subscription to be renewed at the next billing period, the customer will receive a notification that will be switched to this plan at the end of the billing cycle.
If the customer wants to downgrade immediately and switch from a yearly plan to a monthly one. In that case, their current payment balance will be $0, and the remaining amount will turn into credits, which will be used for future monthly payments.
- Lastly, they’ll click “Confirm” to seal the deal.
Once done, SureCart will generate a prorated invoice for the customer and send it to their registered email.
And there you have it! You’re now able to help your customers navigate their subscriptions like a pro.
