How To Customize Product Content (Long Description)
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of creating and editing content for your products, commonly referred to as product long descriptions. This is your chance to showcase your products exactly as they deserve, enhanced with images, videos, links, and more. The only limit is your creativity!
For this documentation, we’ll focus on the WordPress block editor. If you’re using a different builder, no worries! We’ve also created dedicated documentation for Bricks Builder and Elementor. Make sure to check out the guide tailored to your preferred builder.
Creating the Content
With the WordPress block editor, you can create content using native blocks, but you’re not limited to those alone. For example, if you prefer tools like Spectra or other block libraries, you can also edit your product content using them. This opens up nearly unlimited ways to present your product content effectively and creatively.
For the purpose of this guide, we will focus solely on native blocks to show you how to create and edit content without requiring additional steps.
- Navigate to the product for which you want to create or edit the content. Once there, locate the Content section, which includes a button labeled “Open Content Designer.”
- Click on the Open Content Designer button to open the page where you can edit the content.
Once the editor opens, you can edit the content just as you would for a page or post.
Steps to Edit Content
- Content Area (1): Begin typing or adding blocks directly into the content area.
- Toolbar: Use the toolbar on the right to style and modify your content.
- Save Changes (2): When you’re done editing, click the Save button located in the top-right corner to save your work.
- Return to Product Page (3): To go back to the product edit page, click the arrow in the top-left corner of the screen.
By following these steps, you can easily create or edit product content in a simple and intuitive way.
Adding the Content to the Product Template
The content block should be present automatically in your product template but if you want to add to a new page or change the location, you just need to edit the Product Template. Check out this documentation for detailed steps on editing a product template with “The WordPress Block Editor”.
- Once you’re in edit mode, simply drag and drop the content block into your desired location within the template. Follow the example shown in the screenshot below to ensure your content appears where needed on the product page.
