Most well-known online retailers provide some sort of coupon system, and they routinely give them to customers. It’s also not a coincidence; the benefits of coupon marketing are well established, and if your store isn’t using them, you’re losing out on a significant business opportunity. This article will explain how to use coupons in SureCart.
Step 1: Create a new Coupon
To create a new coupon, please navigate to the WordPress dashboard, click on SureCart, and Click on Coupons. This will take you to the coupons dashboard. Click on Add New button to create a new coupon.
Step 2: Filling in the details
Coupon Name: Please enter the name of the coupon here. This will not be visible to your customers and is for internal use only.
Promotion Code: You can type in a code that your customers will enter on the checkout page. You can also leave it blank and we will create a promotion code for you automatically.
Limit to a Specific Customer: Use this option to create the coupon for a particular customer. You can click on the drop-down and select a customer that you would like to create this coupon for.
Product Restriction: This option will allow you to restrict the coupon for a particular product. You can leave it blank if you would like to let your customers use this coupon for all the products on your website. To restrict the coupon for a particular product, click on the “Add Product Restriction” option and click on the drop-down menu to select a product.
Amount: This option allows you to select the amount of discount that your customers will avail using this coupon. You can either choose a percentage off or a fixed discount amount for your customers. Select the option and enter the discount amount in the box below.
Discount Duration: You can choose the duration of the coupon by using this option. It allows you to choose between three different discount durations such as
- Forever: this will allow the coupon to be active forever and gets automatically applied to the cart whenever a customer tries to make a purchase.
- Once: This will restrict the coupon for one-time usage. Once a customer uses the coupon it will be deactivated and can not be used in the future.
- Repeating: This will allow you to choose the number of months that you would like to restrict the usage of this coupon. For example, if you would like to restrict the usage of the coupon for the next three months, please insert 3 in the subsequent box.
Redemption Limit: This option will allow you to limit the number of times your customers can use this coupon. You will get the below options under the redemption limit.
Usage limit per coupon: You can use this option to select the number of times this coupon can be used by the customers. This option will be applied across your customer database and hence will not restrict a single customer to use the coupon multiple times. This can be helpful if you have a limited budget for your discount. For example, if the per coupon discount is $10 and the total budget of the discount is $100, you can restrict the usage limit per coupon to 10. This will ensure that your coupon will be disabled after 10 uses.
Usage limit per customer: This option will restrict the number of times a customer can use the coupon. If you select this number as 1, any customer will be able to use this coupon only once.
End Date: You can select an end date for this coupon to be active. This option lets you select the date and time when your coupon will expire. Please note that the time is calculated as per UTC+0.
