How to Set Up Failed Payment and Purchase Behavior for Subscriptions
SureCart lets you choose what happens to a subscription if a customer’s payment fails. You can do this by selecting a specific duration from the drop-down menu labeled “Failed Payments.”
In this article, we’ll discuss how to change your store’s failed payments and purchase behavior settings.
These two aspects are important for any online store’s subscription model. By understanding them, you can improve your e-commerce experience.
Let’s understand these and see how they can help improve our online business.
How to Setup Failed Payments
Any e-commerce website can face failed payments during the subscription update. In this case, their subscription status will change to “Past Due.”
Our intelligent retry system will make another payment attempt, but if it fails again within the specified time frame, the subscription will be terminated.
SureCart’s Failed Payments setting allows you to prolong the subscription duration even in cases of payment failure by choosing a specific duration from the drop-down menu labeled Failed Payments.
This setting can be accessed in SureCart > Settings > Subscriptions.
In this screenshot, you can select one, two, or three weeks, after which the subscription will be canceled following failed payments.
How to Setup Purchase Behavior
With this option, you can offer your customers a trial period for your product or service without the need for them to enter credit card information or any other payment method.
Additionally, you have the flexibility to set a minimum payment amount that must be met to access the trial period of the subscription.
There are two choices available:
- Require Upfront Payment Method: Enable this feature if you want to offer “no credit card required” free trials. This feature allows you to offer hassle-free trials without requiring customers to provide their credit card information.
- Purchase Revoke Behavior: This option allows you to specify when to cancel a user’s purchase. You can opt for immediate execution or choose to cancel after all payment methods have been attempted again.
You can find and configure these features in SureCart under Settings > Subscriptions.
Important note: This is a premium feature. In order to access it, you must upgrade your SureCart account.
Thats it. Now, you can decide what will happen to your customer’s subscriptions if their payments fail.
