Help! My Customer Dashboard Is Not Working
In this article, we will cover some common reasons why the customer dashboard might not work and how to troubleshoot and fix these issues.
If you’re not familiar with the Customer Dashboard, here’s a quick explanation below.
What is the Customer Dashboard
The customer dashboard is a dedicated page that SureCart automatically generates when you activate the SureCart plugin. Think of it as your account page, which your customers can access.
On this page, customers can find details such as recent orders, downloads, subscription plans, account information, and more. They can also update their password, review billing details, and manage payment methods.
With this customer dashboard, people can add new payment methods, delete existing ones, and select a default payment method for their transactions.
Now, let’s move on to troubleshooting common issues with the Customer Dashboard and how to resolve them.
Customer Dashboard Leads to a 404 Page
Here’s a common scenario: Your customer reports that after they make a purchase, they are being redirected to a 404 page or a page that doesn’t seem to exist, instead of the designated page, which in most cases is the Customer Dashboard or a custom Thank You Page.
Now, let’s explore some common issues and how to fix them.
Case 1 – Page in Draft or Pending Review
If you, as a merchant, find that the Customer Dashboard looks fine to you and there’s no redirection to a 404 page, please follow the solution in case 1.
However, if the page is missing for you, please skip Case 1 and proceed to Case 2.
In this case, where the Customer Dashboard works for you, navigate to WordPress > Pages. Look for the Dashboard page or your custom Thank You page if you have configured one.
If you find that the page is in Draft mode or Pending Review, please change its status to Published.
After making this adjustment, perform a quick test by opening the page in an incognito window or a different browser where you are not logged in. You should now see it working correctly.
Case 2 – Page Trashed
As a merchant, if you find that the Customer Dashboard or custom Thank You page is missing, it’s likely that the page does not exist. It might have been accidentally trashed or even deleted. To investigate this further, follow these steps:
- Go to WordPress > Pages > All Pages.
- Look for the Dashboard page in the list. If it’s not there, check the Trash.
- If you find the Dashboard page in the Trash, you only need to click on the “Restore” button to make the dashboard work again.
- If you see the Dashboard there, you only need to click on the “Restore” button to restore it.
That’s it. Now just confirm if the page is published, and you have it working.
Case 3 – Page Deleted
If the Customer Dashboard is not in the list of WordPress pages and there are no items in the trash, your Customer Dashboard was deleted.
In such a case, you simply need to deactivate the SureCart plugin and activate it again. Here’s how:
- In order to create a new Dashboard page, go to “Plugins.”
- Click on “deactivate SureCart plugin” – Don’t worry, it’s safe. It won’t delete any of your data.
- Click to activate SureCart.
- Go to the WordPress > Pages > All Pages menu.
That’s it. Now you will see the Dashboard page restored and working again.
We’ve covered some of the main reasons why the Customer Dashboard might not be showing and provided their solution.
Hope this helps!
